At Home Moms is all about helping Moms (and Dads, too ) earn extra income at home.   I don’t know it all but I love sharing what I do know and sharing what I learn as I build my business.  Some of the subjects that At Home Moms will cover are:

  • How to succeed at direct sales when you are not a salesman.
  • How to set goals and achieve them.
  • How to let people know what you do without being pushy.
  • How to succeed in network marketing and keep your friends.
  • How to evaluate a direct sales commission plan.
  • How to motivate yourself when life sucks.

It is possible to earn a full time income in direct sales or network marketing but you have to have a plan that you are comfortable doing.   At Home Moms will evaluate different marketing plans and how to make them work for you.

Note: I am a Shaklee Independent Distributor.  Many of my articles will use Shaklee as an example.  I mention it  because I am comfortable and familiar with the products, the company and the compensation plan.  The goal of this website is not to sign you up in Shaklee, it is to help you succeed in whatever business you choose.

About Me

momI am a work at home mom and now grandma.  I am the mom of four and grandma to three gorgeous boys. I have spent countless hours trying to either supplement my income or now support myself at home.   I have developed enough income from my home to be able to afford to stay home to raise my children and spend precious hours with my grandboys.

Things I am not:

  • I am not a financial wizard.  I have learned everything the hard way  and continue to learn every day.
  • I am not a millionaire.  I still struggle at times to pay the bills but I do it with no job or outside source of income.  I don’t have set hours or punch a time clock.
  • I am not a motivational guru.  I am just sharing the tips that have worked for me and sometimes what has not worked for me.

Someone recently asked me what I do for a living and I thought about all the things I do but what I really do and what is nearest and dearest to my heart is to help other people earn income at home.   It is my contribution to today and to tomorrow because I firmly believe that the more time we spend with our children, the better their future will be.

When I was little I wanted to change the world and when I grew up it was somewhat of a disappointment to find that I was not going to be a world famous anything.  I was not going to be the first woman to fly around the world or find a cure for cancer.  What I have realized in the last few years is that we all can change the world, we just have to start one person at a time.  If I help one person, then I have changed that person’s life and their world.  If I can help one person be a little healthier or a little wealthier then I have improved the world.  If they help someone else because I helped them then I have helped two people.  And it keeps growing and improving.

About Shaklee

I am a Shaklee Independent Distributor for one main reason.  I use and love the products.  Every one of the products that I have used has improved my life and my health.  I used them 30 years ago and I have continued to find them the best products on the market.  I have chosen to build my business in Shaklee for several reasons.

  1. I love the products.  I have no problem recommending any of the products to friends and loved ones or complete strangers.  I know that they are a good value and that Shaklee products make people and the world healthier.
  2. There is no pressure.  You can become a Shaklee member because you want to buy the products.  You can become a distributor and sell nothing.  You will never have anyone breathing down your neck to produce or to meet a quota.  This is your own business and you make the decisions about if and when and how hard you want to work.
  3. There is a ton of free training available.  There is product training, nutrition training, business training, motivational training and 90% of it is available for free.  Shaklee does not make money selling training material as some network marketing organizations do.
  4. The low cost of distributorship.  You can become a member for $19.95.  That’s it and Shaklee often has promotions where if you buy $50 worth of products, your membership is free.  For $39.95 you can get a distributorship and all of the training materials that come with it.  There are other options that may appeal to you but when I started, I didn’t have or want to spend big bucks.
  5. Shaklee helps people.  I can help people be healthier and I can help people to realize their goals and believe me, helping people makes me feel really, really good.
  6. I hate selling!  I do which is why I failed at Amway, Mary Kay, Avon, etc.  I am a slam lousy salesperson and worse than that, I am a lousy salesperson because I hate salesmen.  I hate to be pressured into buying something.  I hate that whole slick tacky sales thing.  Ugh!
